Searchlight Educational Media (SEM) is the fiscal sponsor for the non-profit activities of Searchlight Films. Donations and grants in support of non-profit projects are made out to Searchlight Educational Media, an IRS approved 501(c) (3) charitable, are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

SEM was created to encourage and assist in the creation and understanding of film, videotape and other audio/visual communication for noncommercial artistic and literary purposes. At the same time there is great potential to
impart a wealth of information and reach very large audiences through the
mediums of television and film. If surplus income is generated by these
projects, it is used to finance distribution of these programs and develop
future projects..
